The particle size distribution of MIM powder is usually measured by laser particle size meter. This is because the laser has good monochromatism and strong directivity. When a beam of light is blocked by particles, some of the light is scattered. The direction of scattered light will be at an angle to the direction of main beam. The scattering angle depends on the particle size. The larger the particle, the smaller the angle of scattering light produced, the smaller the particle, the larger the angle of scattering light produced. The intensity of scattered light represents the number of particles of that size, in this way, the particle size distribution of sample can be obtained by measuring the intensity of scattered light at different angles.
