Conventional PM uses high unidirectional pressure to press coarse metal powders into a fixed position to create moderately complex equipment. In particular, density was not further improved during sintering. This method produces a density value of 80-90%, which limits its physical properties as an alloy. Due to flexibility of MIM, manufacture of complex products is not restricted. The fine metal powder combined with high temperature sintering enables MIM to produce final product with high density. This makes MIM products and precision materials have similar properties. Fine metal powder is bonded by thermoplastic and wax adhesive to form a raw material. When heated, material turns into a thick, paddle-like material that is then pressed at high pressure into an engineering mold to form desired model. After cooling, remove from mold seed, and then process to remove binder composition (called de-binding).The final step (sintering) is to place metal powder in a controlled high temperature environment, where it melts and condenses into a tight solid.
