According to the United States MPIF Chairman Patrick McGeehan at the opening ceremony of the POWDERMET2017 meeting report, the US metal injection molding market in 2016 annual sales growth of 10%, is expected to reach 350-400 million US dollars. McGeehan also expected US MIM powder consumption to grow by at least 10% to 1,365,000-1,745,700 kg (3000-3850 thousand pounds).

The US MIM industry includes about 25-30 commercial parts manufacturers, and 15-18 franchise manufacturers who produce medical, dental and firearm parts for their products. It is said that in the United States stainless steel and low alloy steel as the main MIM material, accounting for about 85% of the powder consumption. Other MIM materials include soft magnetic materials, tungsten alloys, titanium, tool steels, Inconel 625 and 718, and tungsten carbide. McGeehan said the traditional MIM market remained stable, and from the beginning of 2017 gun market fell sharply.
