Surface alloying technology

Chemical surface heat treatment

The typical process of surface alloying is chemical surface heat treatment. It is a heat treatment process that places part in a specific medium for heating and insulation, so that active atoms in medium penetrate into surface layer of part and change chemical composition and structure of part surface layer, and then change its properties.

Compared with surface hardening, chemical surface heat treatment not only changes surface structure of steel, but also changes its chemical composition. According to different infiltration elements, chemical heat treatment can be divided into carburizing, nitriding, multi - infiltration, infiltration of other elements. Chemical heat treatment process includes decomposition, absorption and diffusion.

The two main ways of chemical surface heat treatment are carburizing and nitriding.

Surface conversion membrane technology

1. Blackening and phosphating


A process by which a steel is heated in air-water vapor or a chemical to an appropriate temperature to form a blue or black oxide film on its surface. Also become bluish.


The process by which part (steel or aluminum or zinc) is immersed in phosphating solution (some acid phosphate-based solutions) and deposited on surface to form a water-insoluble crystalline phosphate conversion film is called phosphating.

2. Anodic oxidation

Mainly refers to anodic oxidation of aluminum and aluminum alloy. Anodic oxidation is to immerse aluminum or aluminum alloy parts in acidic electrolyte, and act as anode under action of external current to form an anti-corrosion oxidation film firmly bound with substrate on surface of parts. This oxide film has special properties of protection, decoration, insulation and abrasion resistance.

Before anodic oxidation, it should be pretreated with polishing, oil removal and cleaning, followed by rinsing, coloring and sealing.

Application: it is often used for protective treatment of some special parts of automobile and airplane, as well as decorative treatment of handicraft and daily hardware products.
