Titanium and its alloys have been widely used in industrial and commercial since the industrial production of titanium from ore was developed in the 1840s.

However, compared with steel, its annual output is still very small, and due to the high cost of raw materials, its application is mostly limited to the Marine industry, chemical industry, aerospace industry, medical treatment equipment, implants and luxury goods industries that have high requirements on material performance.

At present, in addition to the high price of raw materials, titanium and titanium alloy processing difficulty also greatly limited the scope of its application.

Titanium and titanium alloy processing is poor. Processing equipment of traditional method is expensive, low processing efficiency, which greatly increased the processing cost.

The structure of machinable titanium parts is very simple actually, but limited by the processing method, most of them cannot achieve the best performance of material.

Under this background, MIM metal injection molding become a kind of ideal process for titanium and titanium alloy, which has the advantages of high utilization rate of raw materials, low production cost of metal powder injection molding process.

MIM metal powder injection molding process usually includes several basic processes such as feedstcok preparation, injeciton, debinding, sintering and necessary post-treatment.


Compared with the traditional processing technology, such as forging, casting and machining, etc., metal injection molding technology has obvious advantages, uniform alloy composition, high raw material utilization rate, strong production capacity of large quantities of complex shaped parts, which can greatly promote the production and application of titanium and titanium alloy products.

Although some progress has been made in the research of titanium and titanium alloy injection molding, a series of problems remain to be solved in practical production, such as the high price of high-quality raw materials, insufficient application of the new high-quality titanium alloy, and great difficulty in controlling product’s chemical composition.
